Today’s printable is 2 things.. It’s a recipe tutorial on how to create a pretty jar mix for oatmeal cookies, And it comes with a cute printable label to paste on to the jar. It’s one of those perfect token gifts when you don’t want to show up somewhere empty handed yet you are short on time, funds or both.
Here’s what you do:
A. Combine the flour mix
- 3/4 cup of flour
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp cinnamon
B. In a large mason jar layer all the dry ingredients in this order:
- 1 1/2 cups quick cooking oats
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
- flour mix
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup white sugar
C. Cut out the label and paste to the jar
D. Finish with a swatch of fabric on top of the cap with a pretty bow

Thanks for sharing, I have been wondering how I can support my new college age son, who is in an apartment for the first time and doing his own cooking. Since seeing your recipe, I will now be making up a large batch of these to deliver on my next visit. This is perfect and he will love this!
I love to give gifts in jar! The label is a nice touch! Very pretty. Your jar recipe looks good too.
Thank you for sharing! I’m so thankful for people like you who know how to make printables and share them with people like me (who don’t have a clue)! 🙂
Cute idea. I love the label.
Very cute! Sounds delicious too! Can’t wait to give them a try 😉
This is a lovely idea. Thank for the printable label too. I have pinned you.
This looks so cute and the recipe sounds delicious. Thanks for sharing!

This looks so cute but where are the baking instructions for the person you give it to. Telling them what to add, baking temp and baking time?

Hi Kristen,
It should tell you the wet ingredients and baking instructions on the download sheet.

This is cute! What size jar would you recommend using for this recipe?

I used a large 32oz ball mason jar for this project – but you can use whatever works best for you.

I love this idea. However, is there any kind of directions to attach when giving this such as how to make them, bake time, etc.? Or, am I missing something?

All the instructions are printed on the label itself… Enjoy! 😀

How long can these stay fresh? Trying to figure out how far in advance I can make these for Christmas gifts

Since its all dry ingredients in a sealed mason jar, I see no problem with keeping it for up to 6 months. I once had one in my pantry for quite awhile and didn’t have an issue.

is it just me who can’t find the labels?
How frustrating! I have the jars all made on my counter ready to give as gifts and there are no instructions for wet ingredients or baking instructions? What recipe does someone post that is incomplete?

Hi Rose,
The measurements for the wet ingredients and baking instructions should be on the printable. Please download it here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/30153261/cookielabel.pdf

Hello, I love the idea but I wonder if you have a tip to hold all the ingredients in place in the jar during transport (so all the different pretty layers don’t mix up is the jar falls on its side for example).
Thanks for the blog,
have a good day,
Marie

Ugh, I have the jars made but the labels won’t download & I need the wet ingredients along with baking instructions. Can you please post that information? Thank you! Working on these jars for a fundraiser at church.

The Directions aren’t working and I have the jars made help. I clicked n the link and it says nothing about wet ingredients

This jar mix is meant only for the dry ingredients, the wet ingredients are for the recipient to provide. On the label itself, it reads: add 1 egg, 1/2 cup butter, 1tsp vanilla and bake at 325F for 12 minutes.
