Herb Chicken Skillet - A Homemade in America Contest Recipe (2)

It’s no secret that cooking at home is not only cheaper but also healthier for your family. I am no gourmet chef, and, over the years, skillet meals have become a favorite of mine to prepare.

This herb chicken skillet is definitely going to become a regular on my meal plans!

Without further ado, check out the stellar ingredient list.

Herb Chicken Skillet

Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp. oil
  • 1 1/2 lbs. chicken tenders
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 can (14 1/2 ounces) diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tsp. McCormick Basil Leaves
  • 1/2 tsp. McCormick Black Pepper, Ground
  • 1/2 tsp. McCormick Garlic Powder
  • 1/2 tsp. McCormick Oregano Leaves
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 6 ounces baby spinach leaves

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in large skillet on medium-high heat. Add chicken; cook and stir 10 minutes or until browned. Add onion; cook and stir 5 minutes or until softened.
  2. Stir in tomatoes, water and seasonings. Bring to boil, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer 3 minutes or until heated through.
  3. Stir in spinach; cook 2 minutes or until spinach begins to wilt.

Serves 6. This recipe is a THM FP if served over konjac root noodles or zucchini noodles. It can be a THM E if served over brown rice or brown rice or quinoa pasta that is on on plan.

    Love all of the spice line, but I prefer basic spices to the pre-mixed ones. I like to think of cooking as an art and spices as the palette, mixing my own in combinations to fit what I am wanting to accomplish. Wish I had a cabinet full of various basic spices, but I cannot live without garlic powder, black pepper, red pepper, ground ginger, white pepper, onion powder and minced onions.

Some of my favs— cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice, garlic powder, onion powder, any of the spice kits for things like spiced apples and pork chops— pot roast seasoning—-chili seasoning. You cant go wrong with McCormic. I started to say I couldnt have Thanksgiving without them but truth I couldnt have most meals without their seasonings and spices.

    Wow!!! I don’t know if I can pick a favorite or not. We love spices, and I use them quite liberally in almost everything!! One that we have been using a lot recently is curry, so I could say that’s my favorite (at this point in time). I have never seen their perfect pinch Asian seasoning before. I need to look for that when I go to the store.

    I love the “Perfect Pinch” flavors – especially the Mexican and Italian Blends! Those are my “go to” spices, in addition to Garlic. McCormick is big on flavor without artificial colors/flavors, no msg, and fewer additives than other products out there.

    I made this for dinner for the first time tonight. It is similar to a recipe I like from Budget Bytes, but that one is meatless and my husband doesn’t think it’s a meal without meat, lol! This is also dairy-free, which the other meal was not. Serving it with brown rice and veggies, yum!!!
