The majority of Bards tend to be Half-Elves since they have the highest overall melee stats. Wood Elves trade off their strength in damage for some extra agility in avoiding being hit. Humans, like always, have consistent base stats.

Bard Races

For a classic bard feel, the Half-Elf and the Tiefling are great choices. For a powerful martial bard, the High Elf's ability to learn Booming Blade is perhaps the Bard's best option for weapon attacks. For a powerful support build, the Fairy's flight and innate spellcasting are hard to beat.

Benefits of a Paladin/Bard Multiclass

The paladin is one of the bard's best multiclasses for combat in D&D 5e. This is partly because of complementary spellcasting. Even though the bard's high-level spells will be delayed, they gain access to several unique paladin spells.

In the Bard's Tale, you can choose the races for your characters when you create them. Characters from different races have certain advantages - Hobbits generally make better Rogues because they are more dextrous, and Dwarves and Half-Orcs are stronger and tougher, making better fighters.

Firstly, Charisma is the most crucial stat as you need to ooze plenty of charm and weigh in on social situations. After Charisma, you'll want to focus on Dexterity as it boosts attack, initiative, and armor class (AC), and as Bards can't equip heavy armor, you will naturally need high AC to withstand combat.
