List of Watch Brands A-Z [Complete List of all Watch brands from Affordable to Luxury]

The watch industry is packed with watch brands and companies. Today, there are hundreds and hundreds, likely thousands of different watch brands in all kinds of different sizes and with different purposes.

First, you have the most well-known and iconic luxury watch brands that have long histories of watchmaking including brands like Rolex, Omega, TAG Heuer, Longines, Tissot, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, and many others. Then you have an endless selection of small micro watch brands that only produce low quantities of watches and perhaps even outsource all of their watch manufacturing overseas and essentially only print their own logos on the dial.

In rent years, more and more companies have also entered the watch industry by making smartwatches, such as Garmin, Apple, and others. As such, the span of watch brands and their focus has become wider and wider over the decades. Not all of the watch brands make classic mechanical watches like back in the day. And the size of the companies varies greatly.

Most of the watch brands in this list are still alive and on the market. However, due to the sheer volume of watch brands, the status of watch brands consistently and constantly changes. Some may go out of business, others may move to new ventures, some may merge with other companies, and some may go bankrupt. As such, this list of watch brands

The list includes watch brands from the whole spectrum of different types of brands, from smartwatch manufacturers like Apple to iconic luxury watchmakers like Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet.

A growing number of watch brands

Whilst many watch brands have gone out of business over the years, we have still seen a growing number of watch brands over the course of the last couple of decades. This is likely due to the lower threshold and the lower challenges of starting a watch brand compared to back in the day. This is great news for all watch enthusiasts as it means that there is now a greater selection of timepieces to choose from than ever. Whether you want an ultra-luxury watch from a micro brand with low production or a mass-produced affordable watch. There’s likely something for you.

How many watch brands are there?

It’s impossible to answer this question. This is because new watch brands are born each day, whilst some also go out of business for various reasons. Moreover, most watch brands remain very small and perhaps only serve minor local markets and never go global or promote their products broadly.

But it’s safe to say that there are at least several thousand well-known or at least relatively well-known. If we take every single watch brand into account, from the smallest brands, we are likely looking at tens of thousands watch brands.

How many watch brands are there?

There are currently thousands of thousands, perhaps even tens of thousands of watch brands in the world. Over the decades, many brands have been founded, but many have also closed their doors, merged with others, or changed its name.

Naturally, the size of these companies varies greatly. You have huge industry giants like Rolex, Patek Philippe, Omega, TAG Heuer, and many others. And on the other side of the spectrum, you have small microbrands that produce just a few watches per year. In recent decades, it has become more and more common for new micro watch brands to start due to the simplified process of ordering various watch parts and components for watches. Moreover, companies now have the possibility of ordering complete watches and just printing their own logos on them.

This is part of the reason why there have been a growing number of micro watch brands in recent times.
